Donation Terms
Currency and Transactions
All donations made through the Ōtautahi Community platform are processed, recorded, and issued in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).
Refund Policy
-
Non-Refundable: Because donations are immediately committed to supporting community-led initiatives, all donations are final and non-refundable.
-
Fraudulent Activity: The only exception to this policy is if a donation is proven to have been made fraudulently. If you believe your card or account has been used without your authorization, please contact us immediately so we can investigate and process a reversal where applicable.
Payment Security and Processing
-
PCI Compliance: All online donations are processed securely through our third-party payment gateways, which utilise industry-standard, PCI-DSS compliant encryption technology.
-
No Card Data Storage: For your security, the Ōtautahi Community Charitable Trust does not capture, process, or store any credit card information on our servers. All payment data is handled exclusively by our secure, encrypted payment providers.
Distribution of Funds
The Ōtautahi Community Charitable Trust is committed to financial transparency and rapid support. All funds raised through our specific campaign appeals are disbursed directly to the nominated local charity or project within 30 days of the campaign's closing date.
Ōtautahi Supporters (Balanced Giving): Donations made by Ōtautahi Supporters are collected between 1 January and 31 March each year. 100% of these pooled funds are split evenly across our five annual appeals, which run from 1 April through to 31 December.
IRD Tax Credits & Receipts
-
Tax Eligibility: Ōtautahi Community is a registered New Zealand Charitable Trust. Donations of $5 NZD or more qualify for a 33.33% tax credit with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
-
Receipting: A compliant donation receipt will be automatically generated and sent to your nominated email address immediately following a successful transaction. Please retain this receipt for your end-of-year IRD tax claim.
